virtual team facilitation

Despite the need to have personal conferencing, virtual meetings have become more and more of a necessity. Here’s why:

While airlines are staggering cost cuts for their part to keep the passengers coming, the efforts are left with much to be appreciated by the passengers who just can’t seem to fit air fare into their budgets without making sacrifices. The rising airfare and related costs have indeed made it more difficult for groups or any other kind of organization to meet up personally and hold meetings, which are vital elements to success among groups of individuals.

But the problem back then was that the kind of technology that we had for teleconferencing made it almost impossible for anyone to emulate a near to real conference because of the hazy video quality, poor audio and other expected conveniences that can be found on yesterday’s internet.

Because of these setbacks, it was almost impossible to achieve many of the elements of personal meetings, which forced people to still vie for expensive travel. For instance, the kind of team building achieved only through concrete interpersonal communication could never be replaced by any form of online communication. In a sense, whatever costs that you will pay for airfare is virtually nothing compared to the priceless substantial effects of actually being there, especially when the meeting or event involves a lot of participants. Not even to mention the fact that spending your days working on the internet can be potentially frustrating enough that you would have wanted to socialize with other people in the group, only to find out that you have to do this on the internet.

But TODAY, many internet and computer companies have made developments over developments in order to cater to a wide and demanding consumer audience in teleconferencing technology. They made both creations and improvements on all the aspects of teleconferencing. Technologies that produce better sound quality to project sound over large rooms as well as video screens and cameras have been designed specifically to suit meeting needs. Last and certainly not least, overall prices for these teleconferencing equipments have been cut down to as low as US $5,000. And because of this, teleconferencing has finally become an effective alternative to the costly out of town meetings.

While there can never be any absolute substitute to real person-to-person meetings, you’ll be glad to know that meetings can be much more comfortable and realistic with what technology has developed and will continue to develop for everyone who needs it.
